[ARCHIVED] Historic Preservation Awards Ceremony

West Whiteland Township’s Historical Commission held their Historic Preservation Award ceremony at VK Brewing in Exton on March 29. This year’s honorees included the owners of four historic structures – Davis Dairy Farm Barn, Kates Gatehouse, and the Lochiel Manor House and Tenant House. The Township’s Historical Commission publicly recognized the outstanding efforts of the architects, developers, contractors, and property owners to protect and preserve these valuable historic resources. The Commission awarded honorary plaques to the property owners to officially designate the properties as historical preservation award winners.

Township Supervisor Theresa Santalucia welcomed attendees, saying “West Whiteland Township takes great pride in the preservation and restoration of our more than 400 historical properties, and we are grateful for the efforts our community member make. We are fortunate to have so much local talent and interest in the work needed to make these properties usable and restore them to their former glory.” The Township’s historic property inventory consists of sites, homes, converted houses, root cellars, barns, and outbuildings. A map and listing of these properties is available here

The Board of Supervisors and Historical Commission make it a priority to ensure that the Township’s structures are preserved and reused to meet the needs of the community. They offer their congratulations and sincere appreciation to this year’s Historic Preservation Award recipients.
