[ARCHIVED] January is National Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Month

For the month of January, the Township building is hosting Pedals with Petals - a bicycle adorned with a big decorative butterfly and flowers in blue to raise awareness about human trafficking. The public is invited to take selfies with the bike and post them to social media. Specifically, you are encouraged to wear blue on Thursday, January 11 and join #WearBlueDayPA.

Pedals with Petals was created by Carol Metzker to deliver messages about difficult issues by emphasizing solutions and hope. For Carol, who was inspired by a fleet of bikes with positive message by #flowerbikeman in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the bike holds symbols of transformation and freedom. The mission of Pedals with Petals is to raise awareness of human trafficking and to honor local survivors who have worked hard to reclaim their lives and who Metzker has helped over the past decade.

Visitors can post selfies and photos with the Pedals with Petals bicycle at #Pedalswithpetals and #flowerbikeman on Instagram.

If you suspect a case of human trafficking, please call the National Human Trafficking Hotline: 888-3737-888 or text 233733 (BeFree). For immediate danger, always call 911.
