If you experience persistent, loud barking from a neighbor’s dog, you may call the Police Department at their non-emergency number: 610-363-0200. A police officer will respond to your request. If the dog is still barking when the police officer arrives, the officer will approach the owners to remedy the situation.
In addition to the Township ordinance, there may be specific HOA rules that directly/indirectly address barking dogs which are enforced by the HOA. For these regulations, please contact your HOA directly; the Township does not enforce HOA rules.
Along similar lines, animals must be under the immediate control of their owner/custodian by means of a leash or combination leash/harness unless specifically exempted by the ordinance (hunting dogs in season, certain working dogs). The police or designated animal control officer may seize any animal found running at large. Additionally, it is the duty of any person having custody or control over an animal to properly clean up and dispose of the animal’s waste.
Violations of the above provisions may result in a civil citation issued to the owner or person in charge of the animal. Penalties range from $25-$600.
