Interested in a Career in Codes Enforcement?

West Whiteland Township is seeking applicants for the FT positions of Senior Code Official/Fire Marshal and Residential Building Inspector. Code officials play a major role in ensuring that all commercial, residential, public assembly and other buildings within a governmental jurisdiction are constructed in accordance with the provisions of the governing building code. Building code provisions address structural stability, fire safety, adequate means of egress (exits), sanitation, safe wiring and more. It is the code official’s responsibility to protect the public health, safety and welfare in relationship to the built environment through effective code enforcement.

Senior Code Official/Fire Marshal – senior technical and field work position responsible for enforcement of the PA Uniform Construction Code and other Township regulations and directing fire prevention education and compliance.  

Residential Building Inspector – Plan Review, Inspections, and Code Enforcement - administrative, technical, and field work position responsible for enforcement of the PA Uniform Construction Code and other Township regulations, and fire prevention education and compliance.  

Qualified applicants will be self-starters responsible for administering all aspects of the permit process from application to final approval.  Excellent customer service, advanced technical abilities, and communication skills a must for interaction with residents, contractors, and visitors.
