Update on Mariner East pipeline construction in West Whiteland:
- Shoen Road drill site - Energy Transer (ET) expects to pull back the 16" pipeline from Devon Drive (in Uwchlan Township) to Shoen Road from Sept. 24-26. Work is limited to the usual construction hours of 7 am-7 pm, Monday through Saturday. ET will start to install the 20" pipeline via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) shortly thereafter.
- Corner Park Apartments drill site - ET already installed the 16" pipeline in this area from Corner Park Apartments to the drill site by Route 202 on Boot Road in West Goshen. They now are close to finishing installation of the 20" pipeline via HDD. They expect to pull back the 20" pipeline in early October. Restoration of the work area will follow.
- Lisa Drive - ET received DEP approval for a major modification of their permit for the segment from Laborers Training Center (near Lincoln Hwy) to Exton Station. This segment includes Lisa Drive, where sinkholes formed due to installation of the 16" pipeline via HDD. ET’s original permit also was for installation of the 20" pipeline via HDD. With the approved modification, the 20" pipeline now will be installed by direct bore under the Route 30 bypass and railroad tracks and by open trench construction for the rest of the segment.
- Chester County Library to Lincoln Hwy by Meadowbrook Manor - When ET bored under Lincoln Hwy and the Chester Valley Trail earlier this year, sinkholes formed. Those sinkholes were filled and geophysical testing was done and submitted to the PUC. (West Whiteland is still trying to learn the results of that investigation.) Since then, ET applied to DEP for a minor modification of their permit to install the 16" and 20" pipelines under the stream and wetlands between Lincoln Hwy and the library. The modification would increase the area where they can work so they can conduct geophysical work, including test bores, grouting and restoration. DEP is reviewing the requested permit modification.
