Now, more than ever, a full count of a 10-year census is crucial. COVID-19 is probably the most drastic example of why we need to count EVERY PERSON living in Chester County so that we can receive the levels of funding needed to support our population. Each person counted for our 2020 Census – including newborns and children – brings just over $2,000 into the community, every year, for 10 years. That’s $2,000 PER PERSON | PER YEAR | FOR 10 YEARS.
Compared with national and state standards, Chester County’s response rate so far to the 2020 Census is good. We have reached a level, county-wide, of just over 73%. But as we expected, there are areas of the County where that percentage is much lower. And also, as expected, those areas are the ones most in need of the funding that we receive based on the census count.
