On Friday, October 18th, Sunoco reported that water was coming down the pilot hole that they are drilling by Shoen Road. They captured the water in tanks and also added mud to grout the drill hole and stop the flow of water. They asked the Township if they could work for an extra hour past the usual 7 p.m. stop time required by West Whiteland’s noise ordinance so they could finish grouting. The Board agreed to allow them to work until 8 p.m. They finished work by then and stopped the flow of water.
The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has shut down work at the Shoen Road drill site until Sunoco provides information about how they will address the water issue and DEP can review it.
