[ARCHIVED] Township Seeks Candidate for Board of Supervisors Vacancy

Township supervisors are seeking candidates to fill a vacant position on the Board of Supervisors. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Steven Soles who is leaving for personal reasons.  It was a decision that came with great difficulty for him.  Steve was the Board Chairman and served on the Board since 2010. He helped lead the economic revitalization of the Township to make it the destination it is becoming today.  Steve will be missed greatly, and we wish him much success in his future endeavors.

Under state law, the Board must accept his resignation at a public meeting and a replacement must be chosen by the two remaining supervisors within 30 days. The Board will officially accept Steve’s resignation at their October 25th Board meeting and appoint a new member at their regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

To be eligible to serve as a Supervisor, one must be a Township resident for a minimum of a year and a registered voter.  Supervisors’ full terms are six years.  While there are four years remaining in Steve’s term, the appointee will serve upon appointment until the next municipal election in November 2019.  Voters then will decide who will serve the remaining two years in the term.  All interested and qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to Mimi Gleason, Township Manager, at mgleason@westwhiteland.org by November 10, 2017.
