Check out these tips from the Chester County Health Dept. to minimize mosquito breeding grounds in your yard. Eliminating standing water is one of the best ways to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. Take a look around your yard to remove standing water.
The Health Department conducts routine mosquito surveillance in the parks between May - October to monitor the risk of West Nile Virus, which includes the collection and testing of adult mosquitoes. They monitor sites with traps and larval sampling. Anytime they find larvae, they’ll perform treatment with BTI or similar bacterial larvicide to try and bring numbers down.
